Last month we launched our new dashboard. It was not just a fresh look. It also gave us room to improve how you manage your account. One of the first things we wanted to tackle was logging in.
You could already log in with an email address and password, or through Google, GitHub and Microsoft. Now we are adding an option that is faster and safer. You can now log in with a passkey.
With a passkey you log in without a password. You use the same fingerprint, face recognition or PIN that unlocks your phone or laptop.
How it works
You set up a passkey in your security settings. Choose Add Passkey and confirm on your device with your fingerprint or face. Your passkey is then stored safely on your device or in your password manager. The next time, you log in without a password.
If you use a password manager like 1Password or Proton Pass, your passkey syncs to your other devices on its own. You create it once and use it everywhere. Without a password manager, you add a separate passkey on each device.
You can find all your passkeys in the same place, and remove one there whenever you want.
What's next
Alongside passkeys, we are working on Single Sign-On (SSO). It lets your team log in through your organization's identity provider, such as authentik or Okta. Colleagues no longer need a separate Lettermint account. They log in with your organization's account, and you manage access from one place.
