Back to overviewAI now plays a part in almost everything you do. You have your assistant write copy and look things up. Your email just wasn't part of that yet. Now it is, because you can connect Lettermint to your assistant through our new MCP server.
Transactional email often carries sensitive content. Password resets, invoice details, orders. That is not something you want an AI assistant reading without a second thought. How we handle that is explained below.
What is MCP
MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. It is an open standard that lets an AI assistant like Claude or ChatGPT connect to external services. Instead of copying and pasting information by hand, your assistant fetches it itself.
More and more tools offer this kind of connection. You will find them as connectors in Claude, ChatGPT, Mistral and Perplexity. Lettermint now joins them. You ask your question in plain language and your assistant looks up the answer for you.
What you can do with Lettermint MCP
Things you would normally open the dashboard for, you can now simply ask. What happened to a particular message, for example, or how a domain is doing. Your assistant looks it up and tells you what it sees.
An instant answer to a customer question
A customer asks whether their confirmation went out. Normally you open the dashboard, find the project and click through to the message. Now you just ask, and type the answer straight back.
- A customer says they never got their confirmation, could you check that?
- Find the emails that went out to this customer this morning
Analysing an email campaign
Your marketer wants to know how the latest broadcast email performed, without having to dig through the dashboard. They just ask the assistant and get the numbers alongside last month's.
- How did my latest email campaign do in terms of delivery?
- Compare my sending figures for this month with last month
Sending something quickly
A test email or resending a message. You ask your assistant and it takes care of it, without interrupting what you were doing.

AI and privacy
Privacy? We've got your back. As mentioned earlier, there is often sensitive information in your emails. There is a reason we are a European provider of transactional email, so that data stays here and falls under European rules.
The moment you connect Lettermint to an external tool, information goes to a party outside our platform. We cannot determine what happens to it there, so we make sure as little as possible goes that way:
- Personal data in your emails (PII) hidden by default: your assistant sees that something went out and how it went, not what was in it or who it went to.
- You connect with OAuth: you simply log in to Lettermint and grant permission, so no login details end up in your assistant.
- Your team decides: in your team settings you can switch MCP off for the whole team.
- Your own permissions apply: your assistant only reaches the teams and projects you have access to.
- Management stays in the dashboard: your assistant cannot touch your tokens, team members or billing.
If you do want AI to reach the content of your emails, because you only send newsletters without personal data for instance, you can switch that on yourself in your team settings (opens in a new window). A deliberate choice that you make.
How to connect your assistant
Connecting takes a couple of minutes and works the same way in every assistant. You add Lettermint as a connector, log in with your usual Lettermint account and grant access. There is no API token to create or paste. Every assistant that supports MCP uses this address:

Anthropic
Anthropic supports MCP in Claude, the chat assistant on the web and in the desktop apps, and in Claude Code, the coding agent for your terminal. Claude takes a connector you add in its settings, Claude Code a single command.
Claude
Add a new connector (opens in a new window) and fill in a name along with the address above. Leave the OAuth fields empty. Then log in to Lettermint and activate the connection.
Claude Code
Add the server from the command line:

Then open /mcp, select Lettermint and log in to activate the connection.
OpenAI
OpenAI supports MCP in ChatGPT and in Codex, its coding agent for the terminal. ChatGPT needs Developer mode switched on once, Codex is set up from the command line.

First switch on Developer mode (opens in a new window) in your settings. Then add a new connector (opens in a new window) with the address above and log in to Lettermint.

Add the server from the command line:

Then log in to activate the connection:

Mistral
Mistral supports custom MCP connectors in Le Chat, with the same login step as above. Vibe, its coding agent for the terminal, cannot connect to Lettermint yet, because it does not support OAuth.
Le Chat
Open Connectors (opens in a new window), click Add Connector and choose the Custom MCP Connector tab. Enter a name without spaces, fill in the address above and click Connect. Le Chat detects the login step, so log in to Lettermint and grant access. Adding connectors is an administrator task, and on a personal plan that is you.
